FINDING PLACE

Finding Place was a participatory research project led by Jenny Peevers. It facilitated residents of Morecambe to engage with the lived experience of the place through unstructured walking and conversation. I worked collaboratively with geographer Katie Oliver and artist Jamie Jenkinson.
I contributed as lead artist, and presented participants with sellotape as a means of interacting with the environment. This overlapped with my interest in offering a familiar material as a prompt to explore and discover.
Participants used the sellotape in different ways, collecting samples from the beach, binding found objects and collecting prints of surfaces.
Jamie produced a film which captured the walk, which was screened at Morecambe Library on 24th February on a reflection event. Participants were invited to experiment with the sellotape elements produced on the walk using an overhead projector.
